Keeping the kids entertained over the summer holidays can be testing at the best of times. That’s why we’ve rounded up some of the very best family-friendly restaurants to treat the kids to during Eat Leeds Restaurant Week.

We’ve whittled it down to 8 great spots, but you can choose from over 60 restaurants, all serving up 2 or 3 course menus for only £10 or £15.

The Cat’s Pyjamas

The Cat’s Pyjamas on Eastgate at the heart of the city centre, is a great family friendly spot to take the little ones during Leeds Restaurant Week. Tuck into their bestselling Butter Chicken curry made with pureed tomatoes, ginger, honey and fenugreek leaves, which goes down a treat with their Yorkshire cheese naan. The deal is made even sweeter when kids under 12 can eat free before 6pm.

TGI Fridays is all about celebration and fun, with tempting food that adults and kids will enjoy getting stuck into in equal measures, they’ve got all the ingredients for a great daytime or evening meal out with the family. The Leeds Restaurant Week menu may result in some sticky fingers, but rest assured, it will be worth it!  For starters, dig into mozzarella dippers or loaded potato skins, followed by chicken fingers, or go all out with the Fridays’ double-glazed burger.

The Botanist

The Botanist is a stylish botanical bar hidden away below the glass dome of the Trinity centre, popular for after-work drinks, but there are also some great kid-friendly options on the menu. Whilst you’re choosing, the sprogs will be kept entertained with colouring books and puzzles, and when Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is on the menu, you’re sure to score lots of brownie points! Plus, there are plenty of highchairs, lift access for buggies and changing facilities… family meal out = sorted.

Bibis has always catered well for families. It transforms from a relaxed lunch time spot to an elegant and extravagant evening destination, with live music and entertainment regularly on the menu. The kids will certainly be kept occupied with the likes of Calzone pepperoncino to feast on, finished off nicely with Coppa Di Gelato Bibis, fresh strawberries, Morello cherries, roasted strawberry ice cream, strawberry sauce and whipped Chantilly cream! Be sure to ask about their kid’s pizza making parties whilst you’re there too.

Simpatico Pizza is a new Pizza al Taglio (meaning pizza by the slice) restaurant in Leeds, based inside Queens Arcade in the heart of the city centre. Kids will love getting straight into choosing their pizza toppings, which change daily, and you can finish it off with one of their delicious arancini balls, heavenly balls of gooey risotto and mozzarella. Available from midday every day of Leeds Restaurant Week, it’s the perfect spot for lunch or dinner.

George’s Great British Kitchen

A great place to take the kids, George’s Great British Kitchen will give your little ones a colouring book with fun activities and stickers (plus, once they’ve finished crafting away it turns into a stylish hat!). Tuck into their Proper Dirty Burger, the finest chuck, brisket and rib, charcoal grilled to perfection, served with lashings of George’s dirty mayonnaise and tomato ketchup.  End on a sugar high thanks to their insanely sweet and tasty apple and caramac crumble pie, topped with salted caramel sauce and a good dollop of vanilla ice cream.

Forget taking the kids out for the day or to the cinema – all the entertainment you need is inside the Yo! Suhsi restaurant in the Trinity Centre. The kids will marvel at the constant conveyer belt of expertly prepared, colourful plates of sushi spinning around the restaurant and if they’re feeling adventurous, they can try everything from kimchi squid to cod nanbanzuke!

Cabana situated on Albion Street in the city centre, promises vibrant Brazilian-inspired food complemented by a laid-back Latin-American atmosphere. The kids certainly won’t be disappointed with the likes of cheesy dough balls and banoffee cheesecake on the restaurant week menu. The grown-ups will also leave satisfied as the cocktail menu showcases a plethora of Brazil’s famous flavours such as the Caipirinha, with citrus, sugar and cachaça.
